Things keep on rolling in the AMB mad house as we approach another deadline. We've been putting the finishing touches on our massive 15 light group test - holy hell there are some good lights out there now... Almost too good perhaps? Night riding used to be scary, now it's kind of like daytime riding, just with 5% less coordination...
Anyhow, we accidentally put this technology retrogression into practice a couple of days ago when we headed out to shoot our next cover (check it on the left, waiting for the sun to go down). There were four of us at the shoot, but somehow we'd only managed to bring along two lights... The ride out was interesting, I ended riding with a little pocket torch in my mouth, thinking of dental bills the whole time. It has been so good getting back into the night time trails once again, though every year I swear Sydney's Golden Orb Weaver spider population doubles...are these monsters breeding out of control or what?
It's almost Sea Otter time again, that crazy long weekend in the USA when the industry gathers to show off the new stuff we'll be riding in the 2011 season. Oh, and there's some bike racing too, but really it's all about the tech nowadays, for better or worse. We've started seeing some snippets of new gear from Sram, Rockshox and Shimano, but we're sure there'll be loads of cool stuff. We're sending over our very own Panda Pantani to report back on the good stuff for us.
And guess who just received their new Shimano Dynasis 3 x 10 XT groupset? Yep. Me. Intial impressions are great, I'll get it installed this weekend hopefully and let you know.
